Hodgson Russ LLP is bolstering its growing Canada-U.S. Cross-Border and Litigation Practices with the addition of Jennifer E. Brevorka, a dynamic and highly respected international lawyer, who will advise Canadian clients with arbitration, litigation and other legal controversy matters to which U.S. law applies.

Trained in the United States and based out of the firm’s Toronto office, Brevorka has a keen understanding of the intricacies within international litigation and a wealth of legal experience navigating complex litigation that spans the U.S./Canada border. At Hodgson Russ, she will team up with George Eydt, Managing Partner in Toronto and Leader of the firm’s Canada-U.S. Cross-Border Practice, to enhance the firm’s fast-growing Canadian and international presence.

“With its extensive history in the Canadian legal market, Hodgson Russ offers a unique opportunity to practice U.S. law while living in Toronto,” said Brevorka. “Hodgson Russ’ experience advising Canadians about complex legal issues in the U.S. and the firm’s focus on specialized legal areas such as franchise and distribution law, and intellectual property provides trial lawyers with exceptional litigation opportunities across borders.”

“We are thrilled to have Jenny join us as she now focuses her practice on representing Canadian and other foreign companies and individuals on the U.S. legal aspects of complex cross-border litigation and arbitration sited in the United States,” said Eydt.

Brevorka represents Canadian businesses and executives embroiled in U.S. litigation, prosecution, or regulatory proceedings. She practices U.S. law and specializes in defending executives or companies accused of white-collar or environmental crimes, corporate misconduct, or regulatory breaches. She holds a Q. Arb. designation in Canada, allowing her to serve as an arbitrator or represent clients in arbitrations involving questions of U.S. law.

Her cross-border experience includes mandates such as the enforcement of foreign court orders and judgments, corporate investigations, and charge or sentence negotiations with U.S. prosecutors. Brevorka stands out because of her impressive trial record in the U.S. and Canada, which includes the dismissal of litigation against twelve sitting judges in Texas; obtaining favorable outcomes for executives in civil trials or arbitrations involving contract or breach of fiduciary duty disputes; and, successfully defending a multinational corporation in a prosecution for alleged environmental crimes. She also served as a prosecutor for the Texas House of Representatives in the 2022 impeachment trial of the Texas attorney general.

Brevorka is regularly recognized by various professional organizations for her legal work and acumen, including Best Lawyers in America. She is also frequently invited to speak for numerous organizations on topics such as the intersection of arbitration and criminal proceedings, witness preparation, techniques for jury trials, and using visuals in written legal submissions.

Brevorka is licensed in multiple jurisdictions including Texas, New York, Florida, and Ontario. She is a Foreign Legal Consultant in Ontario.
