Hodgson Russ LLP Welcomes Top Commercial Bankruptcy Attorney
Hodgson Russ LLP is growing its Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Commercial Litigation Practice with the addition of Travis Powers.
Travis advises clients in all aspects of complex commercial insolvency law, both in and out of court. He has previously represented of the unsecured creditors’ committees in several large Chapter 11 cases throughout the country. In addition, he has been involved in the representation of multiple international corporate and finance entities in their roles as secured and unsecured creditors in proceedings under Chapters 7 and 11 of title 11 of the United States Code, including the representation of parties in some of the nation’s largest bankruptcy cases.
Travis is also an experienced commercial litigator, in both state and federal courts, with regard to matters involving the exercise of creditors’ rights under the Uniform Commercial Code and New York Real Property Actions and Proceeding Law, including representing the nation’s largest special servicer in the highly contested foreclosure of over one million square feet of real property in Western New York.
Before joining Hodgson Russ, Travis practiced at multiple firms in the New York City Metro Area, including an AmLaw 50 firm in both New Jersey and New York. He has received accolades for his work, including being named to Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law. He also received the 2018 M&A Advisor Turnaround Award for Healthcare/Life Sciences Deal of the Year.
Prior to the practice of law, Travis served in the United States Marine Corps as a Marine One Presidential Helicopter Guard for President Clinton. During his Marine Corps service, he was also a military policeman stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he acted as liaison between local police and military personnel on several military installations in the region.
