Hodgson Russ LLP Names Two New Partners
Hodgson Russ LLP is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2025, Matthew K. Parker of the Litigation practice area and Henry A. Zomerfeld of the Real Estate, Environment, Energy & Finance practice area have been elevated to Partner.
Parker concentrates on business and employment litigation matters in New York City and throughout the country. He handles a variety of business and contract litigation matters on behalf of financial institutions and commercial clients, including claims involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder disputes, tortious interference with contract, and other business torts.
“Matt’s promotion is well earned. He is a critical part of our growing litigation practice in New York City,” said Litigation Practice Area Leader Ryan Cummings. “Matt’s extensive employment and business litigation experience will continue to serve our clients’ needs and dovetails nicely with his burgeoning real estate litigation practice. We look forward to Matt assuming a greater leadership role in the firm.”
Zomerfeld concentrates on environmental, energy, land use, and municipal law. He has a diverse portfolio of clients, representing businesses and municipalities in commercial and contract-based litigation, tax assessment litigation under the Real Property Tax Law, and special proceedings under Article 78 of the Civil Practice Law and Rules.
“Henry is an outstanding colleague who has proven himself as a trusted member of the firm” said Real Estate, Environment, Energy & Finance Practice Area Leader Michael Hecker. “He is an important part of the firm’s ongoing growth and development, especially given his role in the renewable energy space. We look forward to his continued growth in his new role.”
Parker and Zomerfeld have received numerous accolades and recognition for their work, including being listed in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America and Upstate New York Super Lawyers Rising Stars. Parker also received the 2022 Pro Bono Award from the United States District Court for the Western District of New York, while Zomerfeld was honored with the Rising Champion for Justice Award by the Bar Association of Erie County Volunteer Lawyers Project.
"We are proud to celebrate this significant career achievement for Henry and Matt,” said Managing Partner Benjamin Zuffranieri Jr. “They are leaders who will be instrumental in continuing the firm’s delivery of unmatched client service. They will also play an important role in helping ensure Hodgson Russ’s future as a leading law firm in the United States, Canada, and beyond."
Parker serves clients out of the firm’s office in New York City; Zomerfeld serves clients from the firm’s office in Buffalo.
