Hodgson Russ Partner Joseph S. Brown Elected to New York State Bar House of Delegates
Joseph S. Brown, a partner at Hodgson Russ LLP, has been elected to the New York State Bar Association House of Delegates as a representative of the Eighth Judicial District. Mr. Brown’s one-year term will begin June 1, 2013.
The House of Delegates is the governing body of the 76,000-member New York State Bar Association, the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation.
Mr. Brown concentrates his practice in employment and general business litigation. He regularly defends private and public sector employers in lawsuits involving harassment, discrimination, restrictive covenants, whistleblower claims, ERISA, civil rights claims, and other labor matters. He has obtained numerous summary judgment dismissals in employment discrimination and civil rights cases. As an appellate litigator, Mr. Brown has successfully briefed and argued several cases, including 11 favorable decisions in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In addition to litigating other complex business disputes, he advises clients on personnel issues and strategies to avoid employment litigation. Mr. Brown is the immediate past president of the Minority Bar Association of Western New York.
