Hodgson Russ and Levitan & Associates, Inc. Engaged by the Maryland Public Service Commission to Update Offshore Wind Regulations

The Hodgson Russ Renewable Energy Practice, and subcontractor Levitan & Associates, Inc., have been engaged by the Maryland Public Service Commission to assist with updating the State’s regulations and contracting structures for the procurement of offshore wind resources. The Hodgson Russ/Levitan team will advise with respect to implementation of Maryland’s Clean Energy Jobs Act of 2019, supporting the State’s achievement of its goals for Round 2 of its offshore wind procurement.

This role underscores Hodgson Russ’s growing position in the renewable energy industry, as it provides expertise and counsel on a broad range of federal, state and local strategic, permitting, project development and related matters in the offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, storage and other clean technology markets.

We look forward to bringing our expertise to bear on this project,” said Noah Shaw, Co-Chair of the Hodgson Russ renewable energy practice and former General Counsel of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, which administers New York State’s offshore wind program.

This work highlights Levitan’s ongoing role in supporting offshore wind procurements along the Atlantic coast. Levitan Principal Seth Parker stated: “After helping draft the original regulations and conducting Maryland’s first offshore wind procurement, we are proud to continue our work for the State.”
