Hodgson Russ Attorneys on NYSBA Faculty for 'Accounting for Lawyers' Series
Ronald J. Battaglia Jr., Brian D. Manning, and John J. Zak, attorneys in the Hodgson Russ Corporate & Securities Practice Group, were speakers this month at the New York State Bar Association’s “Accounting for Lawyers” seminar series. The seminars were held December 1 in Albany; December 7 in Rochester; December 10 in New York City; and December 16 in Melville, Long Island.
The program gave attending attorneys a solid understanding of how U.S. companies account for their business operations and transactions under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the financial reporting standards in use today. Hodgson Russ attorneys presented on the topic of "Attorney-Auditor Relationships in the New Environment," and covered several areas including attorney responses to auditor inquiries, and applicable accounting and tax rules that require companies to report uncertain tax positions and the legal privileges, if any, that apply to the non-public workpapers used in reporting such tax positions.
