Volunteers from Hodgson Russ LLP Participate in 2023 United Way Day of Caring
Danielle Bankoske, Donna Cordier, Kathleen Dooley, Marissa Kryszak, Amy Malachowski, Thomas Nelson, Elisa Nye, Lisa Spinner-Smith, and Christopher Tompkins volunteered at the Concordia Cemetery in Buffalo for the 2023 United Way Day of Caring. The Concordia Foundation was established in 2012 to assist with the restoration, preservation, and protection of the historic cemetery and its grounds. The Foundation is a non-profit organization with no paid employees and relies entirely on donations and volunteers to keep the cemetery open. The team from Hodgson Russ worked tirelessly in the heat and accomplished a significant amount of work, which was greatly appreciated by cemetery volunteers. Concordia volunteers also showed photos and shared history of the grounds and some of its more interesting inhabitants, including the Schmand family tombstone, which is believed to be the only tombstone in Western New York with a curse inscribed on it.
The group says this was a terrific way to give back to the community and encourages everyone to check out the Concordia, which hosts some unique events and volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
Thank you all for your hard work!
