As part of the New York State Bar Association Annual Meeting, several of our attorneys presented CLEs on current legal issues and topics.

Amy D’Ambrogio and Henry Zomerfeld presented a CLE with Assistant Attorney General Sharon Sash titled: “Case Studies & Updates: Ownership, Use and Taxability of Not-for-Profit Owned Real Property Interests.” Amy and Henry discussed the Real Property Tax Law Section 420-a exemption for nonprofits, the process of obtaining and retaining the exemption, pitfalls to avoid, and case law developments. This was for the NYSBA Real Property Section Committee on Not-for-Profit Entities and Concerns.

Dan Spitzer presented a CLE titled: “Regulation and Explanation of Battery Storage.” Dan covered a number of topics including how battery storage works from the technical perspective, zoning battery storage, and incorporating battery storage into communities as part of grid resilience. This was for the NYSBA State and Local Government Section.
