Matt is in the firm’s Corporate/Securities Practice. His practice covers most corporate and commercial matters but has a particular focus on mergers & acquisitions and on Canada/U.S. cross-border transactions. He also advises on matters such as corporate law, securities, debt/finance, and contract rights. His cross-border practice advises clients on business expansion into the United States, both by acquisition and through organic growth.
Matt advises clients ranging from sole proprietors to large multi-nationals in a variety of industries, including private equity, renewable energy, and healthcare. As a trusted business advisor, Matt seeks to provide practical, business-friendly advice.
Prior to joining Hodgson Russ, Matt was Chief Legal Officer of a U.S. national healthcare services company and before that he practiced law in the Toronto office of a major national Canadian law firm. He was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Although he is a member of the Ontario Bar, Matt exclusively practices U.S. law and is admitted to practice in New York State.
