October 10, 2013

Thomas R. Hyde, a partner at Hodgson Russ, has been elected president of the board of directors of the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy, the governing body of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.

Following the election, Mr. Hyde commented, “I am delighted to take on the role of board president at this historic institution, and I am very much looking forward to working with the director and staff, my colleagues on our board, and indeed the entire community for the continued growth and development of the Albright-Knox. We have some challenges ahead as we look to stabilize our annual operating budget and repair our aging buildings so that we can continue to be a beacon for the region locally, nationally, and internationally.”

Dr. Janne Sirén, director of the Albright-Knox, noted, “I couldn’t be more delighted at Tom’s appointment . . . Tom is an outstanding scholar and an ardent supporter of the Albright-Knox and its work, and I am looking forward to working closely with him on the next phase of growth for this fantastic museum.”

Mr. Hyde concentrates his practice in tax and estate planning and administration. He leads the firm's Nonprofit Law Practice Group, is the former leader of the firm's Estates & Trusts Practice Group, and is a member of the firm's Canada-U.S. Cross-Border Practice Group. His clients include many individuals with cross-border estate and tax issues, as well as nonprofit organizations in both Canada and the U.S. In a former career, Mr. Hyde taught English for 11 years at Yale and also served as associate dean of Yale College.

The Albright-Knox Art Gallery is recognized as one of the world’s leading collections of contemporary and modern art.
