Michelle Merola and Jack Trachtenberg, both members of Hodgson Russ’s New York Tax Crimes Defense & Investigations Practice Group, will take part in a tax enforcement seminar to be presented March 5 by the New York City Bar. The seminar, “When Having a Home in New York Becomes a Civil and Criminal Tax Liability,” will address civil audits that become criminal matters, including how to defend them.

Other presenters will include the chief of the Money Laundering and Tax Crimes Unit in the New York County District Attorney’s Office, the deputy director of investigations in the new Special Investigations Unit of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, and other authorities on state and local tax and tax enforcement issues.
